Annual Kate Smith Festival
held in Lake Placid, NY
June 4th - 6th 2010

Rob Grant presents a gift of a rare historical mural on behalf of Robert & Cynthia Grant to the Kate Smith foundation represented here by Linda Grafius. The Grant family originally owned the Kate Smith 'Camp Sunshine' on Lake Placid. The photographic mural contains vintage photographs of Kate Smith & many famous celebrities of the 1930's and 40's. Known for her remarkable voice and classic rendition of God Bless America, Kate Smith was one of the highest paid entertainers of her generation. She was also responsible for selling more war bonds than any other individual. One classic photograph depicts Kate signing a message attached to a large bomb with a message to Adolph Hitler! The historic mural will join a traveling exhibition that celebrates the life of Kate Smith. This year the federal government also issued a commemorative stamp in Kate Smith's honor.
